Samples of our Commercial VideosWhen my wife and I moved back home from Nashville to start HaleyMAX we were approached by the local cable television sales rep. We were asked if we did television commercials. I said sure. That is salesmanspeak for, "I hope I can learn to do this pretty fast." 2011 marks our 14th year as HaleyMAX and we have been doing television commercials for most of that time. We have been fortunate to have developed a good working relationship with Comcast and Charter Media in Southeast Tennessee and have been able to provide production work for many of their clients. At the beginning, both Comcast and Charter had their own production departments. We were used as an "overbooking" solution, and for a time we were even doing infomercials for the Charter Channel in Dalton, Georgia. We have done basic commercials using still photographs and text, regular video with motion graphics, music beds and voiceovers, and even computer generated scenes (not a lot because that is a very expensive proposition). Commercials used to be 30's and 60's. Now they are mainly 30's, but 15's are making a strong push, and even four or five second "bumpers" are commonplace. You may have noticed the same business will be in one commercial break, typically the first and last commercials. The good ones have two different commercials so the audience does not think, hey, I just saw that, and tune it out, either mentally or physically. I did make one promise when I started doing commercials. I will never scream at the viewer. Not to say I won't get excited and/or be upbeat about a client's product or service. But I draw the line at screaming at someone. To me, that is the mark of desperation by the business and an insult to television audiences. Just my opinion , of course, and obviously some folks think it works just fine, because they keep doing it. If you have a business, you should strongly consider advertising on television. In a small market like Athens, Tennessee there is not a local television station, but there is a cable provider and you can put what is called "local insertions" in several of those cable channels. The bang for the advertising buck is unbeatable. If you would like to find out how to go about this, just give us a call at the office. That number is 423-745-6272. Click to play the video. Commercials can be produced in either standard definition or high definition. |
